Differences between Client, Customer and a Consumer

Often, a lot of us are confused while using the terminologies, client, customer and consumer, however, there are acute differences between them. This is critical to understand before one goes and meets customers, upfront.

Consumer:  A consumer is the one who acquires goods or services for direct use or ownership rather than for resale or use in production or manufacturing. Here the recipient acquires a product or a service for personal usage.

Customer:  A customer is the one who is the recipient of a good, service or an idea obtained from a vendor, supplier. A customer is a short term recipient, in most cases. A customer

Client:  A client is the one who is registered to receive services from various sources. A client is a long term recipient, in most cases.
